Safeguarding
Keeping children safe is our most important responsibility. Safeguarding is part of everyday life in school and helps ensure every child feels safe, supported, listened to and able to thrive.
Every member of staff receives safeguarding and child protection training and understands their responsibility for keeping children safe. We work closely with families and external agencies where needed, creating a culture where children know they will be listened to and supported.
If something doesn't feel right, we act on it.
Children are encouraged to speak to a trusted adult if they are worried about themselves or someone else. Concerns are always taken seriously and followed up appropriately.
Meet the Safeguarding Team
If you have any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child, please speak to a member of the safeguarding team. You do not need proof or evidence to share a concern.
They receive additional safeguarding training and work closely together to ensure concerns are responded to promptly and appropriately. If a child is in immediate danger, contact the police on 999.

How We Keep Children Safe
Safeguarding isn't a separate part of school life — it runs through everything we do. Staff are trained to recognise concerns, respond appropriately and seek support when needed. If we ever have concerns about a child's safety or wellbeing, we act quickly and follow established safeguarding procedures.
We work closely with families and external agencies to ensure children receive the right help at the right time, helping them feel safe, secure and ready to learn.
- Regular safeguarding and child protection training for all staff
- Robust recruitment and DBS checking procedures
- Clear systems for reporting and recording concerns
- Close partnership working with families and external agencies
- A culture where children feel listened to and supported
Child Protection
Child protection forms part of our wider safeguarding responsibilities. All staff are trained to recognise signs that a child may be at risk of harm and know how to respond appropriately. Where concerns are identified, we follow local safeguarding procedures and work with external agencies when necessary to help keep children safe and ensure they receive the support they need.
Online Safety
Children grow up in a digital world, so online safety is an important part of both school and home life. We teach children how to use technology safely, responsibly and positively, helping them make informed choices online. Online safety is taught throughout the curriculum and includes topics such as privacy, cyberbullying, healthy online relationships, misinformation and age-appropriate use of technology.
We also encourage families to talk regularly about online activity and maintain an active interest in the apps, games and websites their children use. For more information, please see our Online Safety Policy.
Helpful suggestions for families include:
- Talk regularly about what your child is doing online
- Explore apps and games together where possible
- Set clear expectations around screen time
- Keep devices in shared family spaces where appropriate
- Use parental controls to support safe browsing
- Stay informed about new apps, games and online trends
Emotional Wellbeing
We care about how children are feeling just as much as how they are learning. A child who feels safe, valued and supported is far more likely to flourish both academically and socially. Throughout school life, children are encouraged to build confidence, resilience, positive relationships and self-esteem.
Staff take time to get to know pupils well and are trained to recognise when additional support may be needed.
Support is available when needed.
Where appropriate, we work closely with families and specialist services, including educational psychologists and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), to ensure children receive the support they need.
Children with Medical Conditions
We make sure children with medical needs are fully supported so they can take part safely and confidently in school life. Where needed, Individual Healthcare Plans are put in place and relevant staff receive the information and training required to support each child appropriately.
Medication is managed carefully and risk assessments are completed for educational visits and activities so that children can participate safely alongside their peers.
Additional Safeguarding Support
Safeguarding takes many forms and includes supporting children's physical health, emotional wellbeing and personal safety. We also work closely with other agencies and services where additional support may be needed.
- Medical Needs
-
Individual Healthcare Plans help ensure children with medical conditions can participate safely and confidently in school life.
- Operation Encompass
-
We are part of Operation Encompass, allowing us to provide timely support when a child may have been affected by a domestic abuse incident.
- Prevent Duty
-
Children are supported to think critically, respect different viewpoints and stay safe from harmful influences. Staff receive training to recognise and respond to concerns where a child may be vulnerable to radicalisation.
Speaking Up About Concerns
Everyone has a responsibility to speak up.
Staff are expected to raise concerns about unsafe practice, conduct or behaviour. Concerns can be reported in confidence and are taken seriously, helping us maintain a strong culture of safeguarding throughout the school.
Safeguarding is woven through every aspect of school life. By working together with families, staff and external agencies, we help create an environment where children feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
